The Current and a Plea

I really look forward to writing my Currently post each week. So much so, that some weeks I start writing it on Monday, and I add to it and edit it through the week, before publishing on Thursday morning. Do you like these posts? I'd love to know what you are currently doing, based on these five prompts, or otherwise. Please share in the comments.

Before I get to the current, I am begging for one final vote. Today is the last day of the contest, so I won't be pestering you anymore. If you could click through, and maybe ask your friends to do the same today, I'd super appreciate it. Thanks much for your support and patience with my requests through the last few weeks.

wondering what is going on with our local weather. As of 6pm yesterday, the forecast was for snow all through the night and all day today. We were supposed to get 5-7 inches of snow. Now the report is for nothing more than a cloudy day, with maybe an inch of snow. What happened to the snowstorm? How did the weather report manage to change so drastically overnight? I was looking forward to a blustery, snowy day.

We read this book as "Green Tofu and Yams."
loathing nothing, really. Despite my ongoing, seemingly unprompted anxiety, life is pretty good. Or maybe there are things I am loathing, but I'm still working on my first cup of coffee, so I'm having a little trouble thinking.

Do you know the Sweet Pickles books? If not, check them out. They are fantastic. We like to find used copies online, but now they're even available as e-books!

cooking baking so many cookies. I've tested four recipes in the last two days. I made the doughs and baked off a few sheets of each, to make sure they were just right. Today I'll be baking more of each, to take photographs...wait for it...with my new camera! Yahoo!

Amelia

reading nothing but blogs and tabloid-esque celeb gossip online, though Whipped, Not Beaten is at the top of my to-read list.

Tiny tongue.

listening to Mates of State, Fun, The Lumineers, The Submarines, The Killers, The Shins, and Tally Hall on Spotify. I'm usually a podcast kind of girl, but this week I've had music on during the day.

A girl, her Papa, and her crocodile.

I took all of the photos in this post with my new camera. I have so much to learn, but I still kind of like these pics. I took them just a couple hours after the camera arrived last night. All were shot on manual, and other than a bit of cropping, none of them are edited.

    1. The camera is exciting. Though I'm riddled with guilt that your camera stopped working, while I had it. I feel kind of bratty getting a new one.

  3. You have excellent taste in books;)
Meant to tell you, a girl in my room on Tuesday nights at church is a RINGER for your twins! She could be their adorable and shy older sister!

  4. I am wondering about war. Today I listened to an episode of Fresh Air that really drove home to me just how little I understand it, but it reinforced how much I loathe it. I haven't been cooking much lately, I'm gearing up for a big shopping trip. I'm reading Confessions of a Prairie Bitch by Alison Arngrim, aka Nellie Oleson and it is really fun. I'm listening to podcasts, as per usual. Today I caught up on Fresh Air and the newest Slate's Culture Gabfest.

    1. I asked a bunch of photography buffs about camera, before buying mine. The best piece of advice I was given was to force myself to shoot on manual, right from the beginning. It worked. After just a few days, I've got a good grasp on most of the camera. It has done a world of good for my food photos.
