Two nights we had an awesome supper with the girls. The meal wasn't anything amazing, just polenta w/marinara and sauteed mushrooms and a side of roasted cauliflower. What made dinner awesome was the way both of the girls ate. They couldn't get enough of the food. Steve and I could barely get in a bite of our own and the girls would be clamoring for more. I didn't make a huge batch of polenta, so to round out the girls' meal, they also had peas and carrots, raisins, and watermelon which they happily ate.
Its always nice when V and C are really into their supper, because it gives Steve and me a chance to catch up at the end of the day. Some evenings the girls are crabby from the minute they get home and they will fuss and scream all the way through dinner. On those nights we're lucky to get just a few minutes to talk and often the babies are the only thing we talk about.
While supper was lovely, bath time was not. For some reason V has recently developed an aversion to taking baths in the last week. She used to love taking baths, but now she tries to climb out of the tub and she screams until she's red in the face. I wish we knew what caused this dislike of the tub, so we could work on getting her over it. Its not the water, because she loves playing in the baby pool in the backyard. Time to do some research.

Things are Changing so Quickly
Since my last post, C and V have been changing at such a rapid pace. They are walking and they do much more independent playing. Their personalities are really coming through. C has quite a temper, while V tends to be more mellow. On the other hand, V is strong willed and gets what she wants, even if it means pushing C around a little to get it.
The girls are off of formula. They drink soy and coconut milk and eat everything within their reach. They can be picky eaters. They will gobble green beans one day and the next day they'll throw them on the floor. C loves sweets, so she prefers fruit to veggies. V is my more adventurous eater. Yesterday she begged to eat the super-garlicky roasted potatoes I was having for lunch. She ended up eating more of them than I did.
My challenge right now is getting both of the girls to drink more water. They are finicky about drinking water. Once in a while they'll drink 4-5 ounces of water at a time, but most of the time when I give them a cup of water they'll throw their cup and whine to get soymilk.
Recently we had some professional photos taken of the girls. They are wearing dresses that were hand crocheted by my grandmother more than 60 years ago (truly vintage). C is in the white dress and V is in the blue dress. Here are a couple of my favorites from the day:
In other news, I go back to work tomorrow. I've been off since May 20th, after having back surgery. I dread going back to work for a variety of reasons. Despite having less time, because of work, I am hopeful that I'll blog more regularly. It is something that I really want to do, but is always on the back burner, while I am taking care of the babies and the house.
